Community Theater rocks my world

very similar to the way open mic does! Speaking of which, I told Matt I'd do something next week, so I think I better get my act (ha! literally!) together.

Went to see The Van Buren Players show of "Once Upon a Mattress" last night. Kevin was Dauntless, and very good. Like all small shows, some people were stronger than others, some were quite a surprise and delight, and you could tell who were the community faves by the amount of laughs they got for just walking on stage. I could tell sometimes when they were doing a bit of blocking or an action that was like "the director told me to do it because they thought it would get a laugh" as opposed to it just being funny.... and it did get laughs, but I wonder if the people really thought it was THAT funny, or if they laughed because they knew they were supposed too.... It was actually interesting to come from an "outsider" point of view, and not have any real faves or best friends already picked out. And then I went home and found my program from when Rodney did it in '92, with all my heros - Avery Williams, Meredith Siemsen, Noah Siemsen, Andrea Keene, Celeste, Jen and Lu.... If I remember rightly, it was Mr. Sugg's first show at MUM, or one of his first at least. Wowzers.

Improv/"Oscar Party" tonight? We'll see if the channel comes in.
