We had dress-up day at work the Friday before Halloween. There was a costume contest. I didn't realize there was prize money involved, but I tied for first place with Stacy, and won $40!!!!

Heather the Batty Queen! (me!)

Heather the Batty Queen up close. Notice the green eyelashes, and batty earrings!

Stacy the Vintage Fairy

We tied for 1st place!

Lila the Chinese Concubine

She got 3rd place. That's an authentic Chinese jacket of her mom's!
A bunch of other people dressed up too. It was fun. We had a mini party with popcorn, juice, cookies and bags of candy for everyone.
I carved my pumpkin on Saturday. I had a kit with patterns, and of course I picked one of the hardest ones. :D It was this diva lady with crazy curly hair and flames licking up the sides of her dress. I had forgotten the whole scooping out the insides business that sucks, but I roasted the seeds and made them yummy with Spike!
That night G and I dressed up and went out to the MUM dance. It was just starting when we got there, so we went to Rev's. Jimmie and Rob's band was playing and Stacy and Lu and Suzanna and Steve and Meret were there, among others. Stayed there for a while. Stacy won the prize for cutest costume. Then G and I went back to the MUM dance. We had missed that costume contest, but the dance was still going strong. It was lots of fun! You can't really tell from the pix, but G was dressed in drag - complete with red fishnets! I had thought I was going to wear them myself, but opted for pants and was going to return them, but they were just too perfect for his costume. He was sort of a devilish bar maid or something. He had pink horns that matched the dress. :D It was a bit hard to convince him, but I really didn't have the time, energy or resources to get him anything other than some stuff from MY previous costumes, and his hair is all long and curly still, so that worked too. The sunglasses were his idea, somehow that made it easier to handle or something. heh heh.
On Sunday I went over to Heather's, and I wanted to bring my pumpkin with me so it would get more show, but I carried it on my hip, and it was so delicate that her arms broke. :( I was able to cobble it together with toothpicks for the evening, but now it's all broken and sad... Oh well. When the pictures come back I'll have to put one up... Luckily I took the pictures before it broke.
My idea of getting toys to hand out was a good one. There was tons of candy at work, but it would have been bad to have it at work AND at home! I had a few left over, and I gave them to Stacy to give to her son, because he loves Halloween type toys.
Now I'm kind of sad to take down my Halloween decorations. It makes my apartment cheery, and I'm just not ready for Christmas stuff yet.... hrm. I guess I can leave them up a little longer. :D
