Orange Poppy

I may be becoming an advocate of orange.

There's a gorgeous batch of poppies growing on our front lawn... yum.

I bought a fuchia plant to hang from my porch. The intial hook was too high up, so I just got a longer one last weekend (handmade, from the farmers market), and when I took the plant down to attach the new hook, what do I see but a little tiny bird nest with a tiny pale blue egg in it! I was afraid all my moving of the plant would scare the momma bird away, but later that night when G and I came home, a little bird flew out of the plant, so she came back!

Now I just have to water it very carefully....

I guess I've been rather quiet on the blog as of late... My corporate life has been turned on it's head, not in a bad way I think, just major structural changes that don't really matter but kinda sorta change lots of things... and since it takes a lot of my energy to deal with change, well, that's where my energy has been, in getting used to the new stuff/ideas. woof.

And the cafe is closed till Tues, so Friday coffee day won't be the same... If I could get up early enough I could make a run over to the Broadway Building, but what are the chances of that happening?

Dinner at Regina's. Had tons of appetizers and by the time it was "dinner" I just had a huge Regina's salad. Could have gone with the small honestly. Had a glass and a half of wine and got all flushed in the cheeks, and it was actually good walking home because I didn't bring a jacket. Now I understand why those stupid Iowa City kids could run around on New Year's Eve in t-shirts, the alcohol was warming them up. Still not sure what all the fuss is about though. Whatever.

they are putting in an ugly rock garden outside of work. Nobody seems to like it. I sat facing the doors at lunch the other day, and it was so funny to watch everyone walk up to the building. All eyes on the ever creeping spread of gravel, trying to figure out just who the heck made that landscaping decision... We're all guessing it's so they don't have to mow the lawn, but sheesh, it could have been a lot prettier. Stacy has better gravel in her driveway! This is like kitty litter/parking lot gravel. ugh. And the poor guy who is carting it, one wheelbarrow full at a time and spreading it out with a rake - I wonder what HE'S thinking?
