ferfrickssake!

Ok, really just 2 more things pounding on my mind, and then I'll really go to sleep.

1) I saw the pilot episode of a show called Tabloid Wars today. (it was a free download on iTunes a bit back) it totally blew my mind and changed my view of how news is gathered and distributed to the public. I mean, I suppose I should have known, but it was pretty much just normal guys running around NYC asking people if they had anything to say about such and such an event/person. And then they call back their co-worker at the office and report back, and he writes it up. and like, that's it. I mean, they decide what gets the front page placement and there's all this pressure to make the deadline and all that, but really, it's just people gossiping/getting facts and writing them down. and a newspaper is just a bunch of people banding together to get it all printed out, and it seems like, and is this big thing with all the parts, but really, you could in theory get just as much info on a story from someone's blog. amazing.

2) I was thinking about cardboard boxes the other day. Well, no wonder since I've been surrounded by them lately. But it really struck me, when my mom was saying how one of her friends wanted them after us. They are just paper boxes. And we use them to hold all our precious stuff, and ship things around the world and everything. Just these plain and simple brown boxes. and who knows what's inside, or what the stuff inside means to someone somewhere? Like, really amazing I think... And I'm writing all this stuff like "FRAGILE" and "HEAVY - Books" or whatever, praying that with my cryptic labels that no one will abuse the boxes and break whatever is inside, or hurt themselves trying to lift something too heavy for one person or whatnot. When really I am the only one who knows the true value of what's inside, or I'm the only one it really matters to rather. And then we empty them out and they don't mean anything but taking up space. But the next person who takes them is going to fill them up with some new sort of importance! so yeah. cardboard boxes.
