The funny thing was, I wasn't even planning to go see Obama. I had just dropped off the last of my girl friends in Des Moines after a week-long reunion, and then spent the afternoon up there with my cousin. I was tired and had been out pretty much all day. But I had to drive past the square to get home, and the crowd was pretty huge, so I thought, what the heck. Little did I know I'd not only get a really up close picture, I'd also shake his hand as he told Ben Daniels how lucky he was to have married Mira Waller. (They were standing next to me) heh.
His speech WAS very inspiring. Sorta had a "St. Crispin's Day" flavor to it somehow.
I guess that's the power of a good politician. He really did have me hoping. Especially nice around this time where I part of me wishes I could feel more patriotic for the 4th of July, instead of awkward and embarrassed about my country.
