Tomorrow is my last day before my trip to CA and there are so many freaking things I need to do in it, it's scary. I came home from my Artist's Way meeting and proceeded to panic by procrastination. I should have at least started some laundry already. I just don't feel like staying up late to cram stuff in, and I'm quite sure I won't cram anything productive in anyway, so those hours will be spent better with sleep. So I think I will.
Finished off my antibiotics today. I do feel much, much, much better. Just a wee bit of sniffle I think from my immune system being run ragged, another reason to go to bed.
Spend most of today manning a polling station for the local election. (after my radio show of course). It was an uncontested election, so I think they got a grand total of about 25 voters that came out there. (I missed the last hour so I could get to the Artist's Way class, so not sure of the final count) But we were friends and had lots of good chats and snacks and books and taught the new Mac user among us several fun shortcuts and hot keys, etc. And of course dropped it all and were very professional and serious for all of our voters when they walked in and made sure everything was done to the letter. It does feel good to take part, and helps that we get paid a tiny bit too.
G got to vote for the first time in the US! Hooray! We went to our polling place together since it was open before my radio show and I was slightly worried they might ask him for ID since he was new and all, I didn't have my ID with me because I have never, ever needed it before!! but they actually didn't recognize ME! Well, one girl I'd worked absentee with before did, and Juli was right outside, and of course my name was on the list, but I was heartily amused, I mean, come on, I've lived in the same ward since I was 12! I don't think I even registered to vote in Boulder while I was there... Anyway, I didn't particularly recognize the people working there either, must have been newbies. Funny that. But I don't think they were supposed to ask for my ID till AFTER they checked my name in the book, and only then if they hadn't found me. blergh. Whatev's.
I like helping for elections because I feel like I'm doing my part to help with how the country runs but I don't have to yell and scream about politics. I'm generally not comfortable around strong opinions, and people are supposed to keep them out of the polling stations. :)
OK, bed it is, and then I hope wake up early-ish and start making lists!! Eek!!
