Toasty Shark! Back into the swim of things

Went bowling on Saturday with Ananda, Jyoti, and G after I got back from Des Moines. I thought I was going to be all late and stuff because my cousin and I got really lost in Des Moines and spent an hour going the wrong way/getting back to the right way. Anyhoo. I got to the bowling alley and the 3 of them walked out, so I thought they were finished, but turned out they were just taking a break from the smoky-ness. We sat around and talked while waiting for our lane, and I saw one of those quarter machines that had temporary tattoos, so I got one for each of us and we all put them on. When it came time for bowling, we decided our names should all have something to do with our tattoos. Thus, in order of play we were: Bat Boy, Toasty Shark, Dragon Queen, and scorpion. (G, me, Jyoti, Ananda). We bowled 2 games, the first I lost, the second I won. I started focusing on the pins instead of the ball, and it made a huge difference. I still have my toasty shark on my hand. It's a shark for the front half, but the back half that should end in a tail fans out into flames! Madness. Ananda's scorpion is standing in flames too... Mid bowling many of us were hungry, so we decided to go to Torinos afterwards. We got onion rings, french fries, and pizza. The girls had coffee - free refills.... and I had root beer that I put the free ice cream in. Float! What awful crap to eat so late at night. amazing. but it was yummy... madness.

I need to get my act together foodwise. Seriously. Not only would I like to take little off for Erin's wedding, I REALLY would like to take a LOT off for mine... I saw this great Cathy cartoon yesterday where Cathy is engaged and freaking out about the dress - how if she starts dieting she could be the size she wants, but having to try on and order a dress earlier, alter it etc. "What if I order a size 6 dress in March... have it fitted to a size 8 body in May... but the only body available in July is a size 12??" I thought it was quite brilliant and relate-able to - for any woman who has worried about her weight before a big event at least.

Wedding ideas for us - have it a little before his graduation, that way his family can come for one trip, but get to be at 2 major events. And luckily he will actually be done with classes in January, so he wouldn't be freaking out with final school stuff and wedding stuff at the same time, although I'd probably be doing more of the freaking. ;) Then, honeymoon in Cartagena, or the islands by it, maybe just 4 days, because we would then go to Barranquilla and have a big party with his whole family for those who couldn't make it up to the states... romantic and practical all in one! Plus Caratgena is cheap! Relatively at least. So yeah, this gives me a over a year to get in shape, July 2005. Totally do-able.

Last night I went to see Tim Britton and Pat Egan play at Cafe Paradiso. G came after he did his homework. Great stuff. When I got home I was totally brushing my teeth in time to some jig or reel or something. I don't know the differences, but I like them all. But it was great, I can get different "tones" depending on how open my mouth is, or where in my mouth I'm brushing.... honestly. Try it sometime.
