Periwinkle Fairy dress

So luckily G had yesterday afternoon off of work and could drive me to Des Moines to get the bridesmaid dress, because I felt SO icky until a bit o' chocolate worked it's wonder... (Wow, looking back, that's like 12 days of hormonal hijacking before the fact. No fair! It's not usually this bad...) I ended up driving the last half hour or so on the way home. The people at David's Bridal are wacked.... I called ahead of time, but when I got there, not one but 2 ladies called at the same time for a girl in the back to come up. One of them went on a bathroom break. I waited. and waited. She comes back from the break, asks if I have been helped, and when she remembers me, asks my name and goes back to get it herself. cheeze. Not in any sort of mood to try it on in the store, we got back in the car and headed for home. It rained most of the way. I called a bunch of restaurants in Mt. Pleasant to see if we could send them some Art Life brochures to put out. THAT was fun.

We made it back just in time to grab some dinner from Purn. Oh wow. It's not Purn any more. they moved all the food stuff into the Student Union! So yeah, just in time to grab some food, and eat it in the Spayde theater parking lot and then go watch the MSAE Theater Cavalcade. Good stuff, I was really impressed with the boy's musical theater, and of course Geoff Boothby's one-act. Sadly the girls choral reading was too-too recycled for me. Sweet, and their costumes were TOTALLY adorable and perfect for each girl. And I really did like the drum bits, but at least 75% of the material was stuff I'd done or heard before. They did a good job with it though. I wasn't all that impressed with the Pirate King mime either... and it won over Kevin's Pygmalion mime... hrm. Maybe they were off? or I was sitting too far back? It was funny for sure, and very different from most of the slapsticky mimes you see from other schools... oh well, oh well. It's all good.
Director David Lynch was there last night, flanked by Bevan and Craig Pierson (sp?) I wonder if last night was like one big audition for the MSAE kids? although G says that DL is giving over directing in favor of working on movement projects, or something like that. Getting pundits here and all that... We'll see.

Later, G and I went to 2nd Street (after getting him a movie for today, while he's home for PK prep) and Collin and his friend were there. I tried to walk by hiding my face, in case it wasn't cool to have a sister show up where you were hanging out, but actually they wanted more scoop on Allison, and David Lynch. The swarmed me on Saturday night (I did end up helping for the Irish night) asking did I know if she was single and her phone # and all that, because they wanted to set Mr. H up with her. hee. I can't recall what her status is exactly... Now they were wanting me to set up a bowling night "with friends" and invite the 2 of them along... Since I hang out with A a lot. I like her a lot, and when Sarah was here we'd do stuff altogether sometimes, but yeah. "So hang out with the friend who knows A!" who is in Colorado! BUT is coming to town on the 20th... "AH! so, set up a bowling night with friends. Invite Mr. H because he's a lonely guy and needs to do more things, Gilberto can come too, so it doesn't look weird." A's mom came into the coffee shop. I thought that was a nice touch, but Collin wasn't interested in going up to her "My teacher likes your daughter and ummm..." I was thinking of calling Sarah on the way home after dropping off G, and this thought popped into my head... "This is SOOOO High School" And it occured to me, well, it IS High School, in that it is a bunch of High Schoolers trying to set up one of their friends in the only way they knew how. and honestly, does the method really change that much as we get older? perhaps a wee bit more discretion, but not much. the stakes are perhaps a little higher, if we feel some pressure or loneliness that wasn't quite there in HS, because we had plenty of time, and were surrounded by people every day...

CRAP! It's almost 3:30! That's what I get for falling back to sleep and not waking up til 1:15! So I've only been up for a little more than 2 hours, but the day is close to gone. Must work on AQ. ugh. nightmare. And the dress doesn't look as pretty as it did when I tried it on the first time... I should try again in a couple of days though, when I'm back to feeling normal. There's a bit of periwinkle polyester inspiration for you though, hanging in plastic bags in the closet... STOP EATING COOKIES!
