This has been bothering me for a couple of days... So they recently put new blacktop down on highway one on the part that basically divides MUM. There was crazy construction for weeks which led to all sorts of mad routes to and from work, depending on the time of day and what roads were open (since they were also working on second street and B street for much of the same time) Anyway, they finally finish - nice! Smooth awesome road, fresh painted lines. Then a couple days ago, MORE construction flag people, wtf right? The seem to be putting white over the yellow lines or something? But on closer inspection (well, from a moving car) it looks like they SCRAPED OFF the yellow lines and painted new ones, slightly shorter in length. And there’s these marks on the road where they are showing how much less to paint on either side of the original lines. Why chop some off each end? Why not just take the total amount off of one? What laws did they screw up that they had to repaint them? and now the road doesn’t look all clean and pretty and new any more, it’s like a paper written in pencil with smudgy erase marks. I’m bummed. I like prettiness.
Had the boys and Quinn over for dinner last night. That was fun and went well. Made tasty yum pesto, didn’t worry all that much about the state of the house, cuz they were pretty much just there for the food, although they did hang out and play with our computers and talk and stuff. Hope we can do it again sometime.
I went to the gym 3 times this week! yay. iPod rocks my world - MORE WORKOUT MIX MUSIC IS NEEDED. I hope next week to get in some kickboxing. Jennie and Nola are all fired up to exercise a lot, I hope we can all be inspiration buddies.
Saw “Just Like Heaven” tonight. I was pleasantly surprised, very cute! Oh, and 40 yr Old Virgin is playing too, I saw it already in Ottumwa, and laughed so hard my stomach hurt after! yes it’s stupid, but surprisingly poignant in some ways, esp for the type of movie I was expecting.
Something else that made me laugh really hard, while searching for inspiration to write about clocks:
Time flies like the wind, fruit flies like bananas. ~ Groucho Marx
Think about it, it gets better...
and so goodnight!
