Yeah, I feel a little guilty that I'm on my computer and not paying full attention, but, well, yeah...
This is a pretty rockin' one, tons of people, good musicians. I hope this is a trend, cuz it's amazing and inspiring. Such a crapshoot, never know how many people are going to show up. Not that I really know, cuz last week was the first time I'd been in a while, but there's easily twice the people here than then!
I brought my guitar out tonight just in case I could pull something together in half an hour. I was sad to realize I didn't have my calluses anymore (duh, it's been a while!) and it was pretty hard for me to play anything. I'll have to work up to that again. :( I found one really simple old one, one of my first that I could have played, but it seems dumb to just have one teeny song. Plus it's one of those "Why doesn't he love me?" ones, so blah. Then, oh happy day, I got caught up in working on a new one!!! Maybe in a week or two it'll be ready for sharing, hooroar!
I was having this idea about renting the back studio apartment at our place for a studio, since it's still open. It's just one tiny dorm room sized place, with a mini kitchen, $200 a month plus utils. She'd probably be able to give me some sort of break on utils, it's not like I'd be taking twice as many showers or anything... It'd be sooo nice to have more room, we could store the stuff that doesn't fit, and I'd have an even more private space to be creative. Can't really afford it though, especially when we really should be able to get a two bedroom place for less than that in terms of additional cost to what we pay now. Blah. We won't be able to move really till next June, that's kind of a while, eh? And who wants to move in winter, and we're JUST getting settled. Really need to wait to do much till G gets everything finished paperwork-wise. Sigh.
O'Nell and her mumsie stopped through here on Monday, that was pretty cool. Too short a visit, but what can ya do, right? They came by after work, we had dinner and hung out and looked at wedding pix and stuff. When we left for work in the morning they were still sleeping. It's so blown that O'Nell is going to work with Robin Lim, small world! I hope she has a blast, Robin is one cool lady, and helping all those babies be born - wow. It was cool, we haven't really kept in touch much the last couple of years, but I felt like we just fell into the flow and were totally comfortable sharing. I stayed up really late making her two mix cd's one for driving and a Goddess Mix 2. Then I got up early and made this goofy note for them about the shower and stuff with pix of me and G, and their camper van thing, and a map to Cafe Paradiso, which they did end up going to. Hope they liked it! and hope we get to stay in touch more, O'Nell is truely an inspiring person, so accepting, always striving to be in the moment and make a difference. Sigh. We all do it in our own way I guess.
