Inspiration

Very much inspired by the second time I've gotten to babysit a dear little redhead. Not enough to want a kid right away, but such an amazing and fluidic evening, it was quite a source of wonder and joy. Semi-poetic thoughts requesting to be put down as is to either abandon or work with later:

There is much to know when visiting in a two year old's world. His language and inflections. His favorite songs and the names of his toys. How to let go of any of my big agendas and jump to follow each of his little ones. The compromise between his desires, his mother's ideal schedule and the power of suggestion that honors both. Marveling at how much he knows (about himself, letters and numbers) and his self-sufficiency. (I didn't turn on the humidifier before turning off the light, so he got up and did it himself when I left!) Learning that he will request a second veggie burger and try to scrape the remaining ketchup up with a fork. And perhaps most endearingly - leave 4 red grapes, one half-eaten, in a blue plastic bowl, but fall asleep with a green grape clutched in his hand.

Worked on some Dar and Girlyman songs tonight. Hope to have at least one ready for the open mic on Wed. so happy.
