Travel and language

My Friendster horoscope:
Your vision of the future is about to change. Travel and language play a big role.

Heck yeah they do!

G had to work on some computers up in Cedar Rapids today and I went with him. The original plan was that he would drop me off at Coral Ridge and come back for me in the PM, but we got started so late that I said I'd just go there with him. I'd brought my computer, but they didn't have the wireless set up yet, so I did A LOT of Spanish lessons. w00t. I tested myself on the final review lesson of each unit, with the written words turned off, just by listening! Did pretty good if you ask me. And if you ask my scores, up in the 100%s and 97%s thankyouverymuch! Then I started doing the one where it reads you a sentence and you have to pick the words out of a scramble of a bunch of them and put them in the right order and all. Did ok on that one too. but realizing that if I'm ever going to SPEAK Spanish, I need to PRACTICE SPEAKING!!! huh. What a concept! :P So G and I had several mini conversations on the way to Coral Ridge. I can convey quite a lot, even if I get the genders wrong all the time, and haven't quite grasped how to change the verbs to the proper version at the proper time, but yeah.

Freakin' bought a bathing suit for Colombia. Ugh. That was no fun. The lame part is the girls at Target were being really anal about only taking 6 items in at time, and I ended up needing like 3 or 4 trips in and out because of that, which meant MUCH more changing of clothes than was efficient, especially since much more is involved with trying on a bathing suit than trying on say, a shirt. flibbertygibbet. Poor G waiting for me at the snack bar place thought he was going to see me leaving with paramedics or something, I was gone so long. I even ended up buying an extra piece at the last minute without trying it on because I DID NOT want to go back in there again. I'll have to figure out what works and return the one that doesn't.

I also got some Clinique makeup, since that was what Ann Marie used on me for the wedding. Powder and mascara, which was enough for them to give me the gift bag, which included lipstick, blusher, applicator brushes and some face cream and wash. Not bad for $30 some, being as it's expensive department store make-up. But it's my face we're talking about here, so I want to be as good to it as possible. The girl who tried it on me said that if I "bumped up my exfoliation" I would have better results with the powder. Oh thanks. I suppose it was the nicest way to say I had dry skin, but I wonder what would really take care of it. Sigh. There was a gay make-up artist there too, that really made my day. With his little earring and everything. Awesome.

Still in need of something to wear to the reception, and possibly the wedding/blessing thing, since I'm not sure if my dress is going to work. sigh. Hard to find white dresses at this time of year.

Lu called me on the way home to ask if I could leave a copy of the Goddess Mix2 for her mom, who was leaving to see her sister in FL who is dying. She called back not too much later to say I didn't have to worry about it and not bother, but I said it was no problem, and I really do like sharing music, so anyway, I hope she likes it.

Oh, I dunno if I ever mentioned the baby came last Sunday! a boy! That's pretty much all anyone knows who I've talked to, so I must be talking to the wrong people, heh heh.

We saw the movie Green Card tonight. I'd never seen it, even though a ton of my friends saw it when it first came out. It totally freaked me out because G and I are probably going to have to go through one of those kinds of interviews at some point, and it made me scared. Like he would know the name of my face cream. argh. We've had enough of a life together and evidence of that, we should probably be fine, but geez! It was funny, the guy who plays Neelix on Star Trek Voyager was one of the INS guys. Weird to see him without all the alien makeup, heh heh.
