Amazing...

...what a haircut can do to one's self-confidence and outlook on life! I went in for a short do and came out like this:

look who's cute! Posted by Hello

The YIM Avatar that inspired it all.... Posted by Hello

Meredith was like "You DO realize you brought me a cartoon right?" She's really good, and a fun person. MSAE/MUM grad, but a bit ahead of my time and thusly off my radar till now. It's neat to make new friends, especially with people who live in town!

I'm going in for highlights next Saturday, NOT as drastic as the avatar ones, but something fun. I mean, why not?

Christmas was good! Got some good stuff, kept it pretty low key. It was weird because Collin was going to Boulder on Christmas Eve, and Dad had church services, so we did his presents and the ones from Dad after lunch on Christmas Eve.

Caught most of the service at St. Gabe's, then Jennie called me after I got home wanting to go to church. She ended up finding out that the Lutheran one had a mass at 10, so we went to that.
It was neat, after I went to a candlelit mass with my fiance (who missed the one at St. Gabes) and my Jewish friend in a church I've never been to, we walked out just before midnight as fat snowflakes fell. Not that they ended up covering anything by morning, but it was a nice gesture, and a magical moment. And it was just really cool - none of the lables of anything mattered, it was just people, human beings, celebrating the coming of light in the darkest time of the year. That's what I got out of it anyway.

Actual Christmas Morning was pretty casual. Didn't even make it over to mom's till after 11! My poor cousins experienced their normal holiday trauma of crazy parents and upset feelings all around, but T and Rich came over for lunch and presents at least. Still haven't seen Cat, hope she is doing ok...

G and I went over to Heather's to play Trivial Pursuit with Sarah V, Jay (her bf) and Anna M. (Scott's coming home tonight) We played in teams. I ended up feeling pretty stupid by the end. G and I did not get even ONE slice of pie. ARGH. But we DID get really hard questions... so there :P whatever.

Stayed at the Labaghs with the animals. Theresa stayed too to get some much needed space. But a squirrel got into Amy's room where she was sleeping and and freaked her out in the morning. So when Tony called she had Len tell me how to set up their live squirrel trap. guess they've had the problem before. yipes!

G and I talked a lot today about our wedding date. We had thought 4th of July weekend for a while, since it's close to his graduation. Then we got a Jyotish date of July the 14th, which is a freakin' Thursday. After much discussion we came up with having a shower/party/rehearsal dinner type of deal on Thursday, as an official start to things, and then having the wedding on Saturday the 16th. I think it's a good compromise, because friends and family are so important to the yagya of the wedding, and it'll be hard for people to come on a Thursday I would guess... So that feels good. Something is set. Now it's time to make the announcement and have people save the date!!! phew. because the news is starting to leak out, and relatives will be hurt if they don't hear it from me soon. I just really wish his parents could come..... :(
