So I get to the airport to find out that they don't offer my flight anymore, but no one is at the desk and I can't see a phone number for the airline anywhere. Woke up my mom who told me I should call information. I had just heard at work that cell phones can charge like $2.50 per 411 call, and there is a free service which also said it would connect me to the #, but the bastards had a time limit, so while I'm trying to hear what the lady is telling me, it keeps chiming in to tell me how many seconds I have left! So I find out that the flight isn't going until 1pm, which means getting into San Diego at 6pm!! F$#&!!! After another tearful call to my mom, I call the airline again, and the guy after talking me through some options, asks me why I'm not talking to the people at the gate. I explain that no-one is there, and he calls them and gets them to come out. The girl is really sweet and explains my options again. I can leave at 1pm and go through Dallas, or leave at 9:45 and go through Chicago. Trick is, the weather is probably yuck in Chicago too, which means I could get stuck there and miss the flight that gets into San Diego at 3, and end up getting to San Diego at 6 as well, or the next day even... But if I stay here, the weather could get worse and I don't make it out of Moline either. So argh. But after calling my mom AGAIN, I realize that I'm going to be in teh suck ass midwestern weather in either case until 1pm, so I might as well take at least the chance to get there at 3. So here I am. Looks like it's clearing up here, and the chance of precip at Chicago says 30% on weather.come right now. So hopefully everything will work out. Argh though. I could have slept more, gotten up and had a nice waffle breakfast instead of the nasty banana muffin and tiny strawberry yogurt I grabbed. Le sigh. That's what I get for not checking on my flight. :P
I bought my travel book: Memoirs of A Geisha. Want to read it before I see the movie. I'm sure I could have gotten it from the library or Rev's or something cheaper, but oh well. I can return it and get half off if I want, but I'll probably want to keep it. I would have bought a used one if they had it, but they didn't. Anyway. I have lots of multimedia entertainment available to me as well - iPod, computer, movies... crazy. I think my last trip I have any music at all, and this time I'm all set. Grin. yay. Just wish I had a safer carrying case for my computer. And a digital camera so I could photo-document all this. Anyhoo. I'm such a little techie geek. *grin*
blogs are so funny. I mean, why post stuff on the web if you don't want people to read it, but on the other hand, knowing that lots of weird random strangers could be reading it kind of creeps people out and keeps them from being 100% honest. So part of me wants more readers and comments and all, but I don't want to get "famous" enough that I can't be myself. Who knows.
There are a bunch of neato sculptures and watercolors in the airport gallery. I thought the watercolors were photographs at first glance, but when I got closer I figured it out.
Well, thinking I ought to conserve my battery power for a movie or something...
