Got to see Donvan perform at the Rec Center last night. I thought it was very sweet and inspiring. As he played I was amazed to put together pieces of memories from the oldies radio (only station I listened to for a few years around the age of 12) plus my dad playing us tunes, plus one of the first songs I learned on the guitar (Happiness Runs) and find out they were all from the same person! I think it's great that someone can be so simple and positive and speak to such a wide audience.
apparently he hadn't brought his own guitar, so 5 local people auditioned theirs to make sure he got one he liked, and David Hawthorne's was the winner. :)
I ordered a USB pre amp today, and it's coming with a free mic! I hope it's good, probably decent enough for my purposes. I'm a wee bit wary of "free" stuff, but it's supposed to be a $150 mic at full price, so it's obviously going to be better than my current $12 mic I got at Wal-Mart like 10 years ago or something. I'm also getting a little desk mic stand to hold it. Should be here in a few days. I hope by the time the stuff arrives my congestion will be gone and I can try it out!
I'm surprised I made it through work today, I was so wiped out after just an hour or two. But I stayed till 6:15 at least, and got some good stuff done. woof. I need to shake this sickness thing. bleh.
